THE BANGALORE QUEER FILM FESTIVAL 2013

The 4th edition of the BQFF (February 24 -26) screened 59 films from 17 countries. Films like Sasha and Men to Kiss, regional box office hit Kanchana, and engaging dramas like Viola di Mare and Jamie and Jessie are not together offered a diverse view of queer cinema from around the world. Retrospectives on different directors including the late Indian filmmaker Riyad Wadia were also part of the schedule.

Jury Awards were given to:


Best Short––Sky (Sri Lanka)
Best Feature––Madame X (Indonesia)
Best Documentary––Everyday to Stay (US)
Best Director (Special Mention for Best Feature)––Robert Hasfogel for Men to Kiss (Germany)
Best Documentary (Special Mention)––I am (India)
Best Short (Special Mention)––Chupachups (Korea)


Audience Awards were given to:


Best Feature––Kanchana (India)
Best Documentary––I am (India)
Best Short––Love, Lust and Leela (India)

The photo exhibition was curated by Delhi-based photographer Akshay Mahajan who brought two bodies of work from Gazi Nafis Admed and Andrea Fernandes apart from his own work. The fest also saw performances of poetry, a one-woman play “Yoga Cannibal” and a dance remix by a local group Pink Diva.
